when & where we're bubbling

Proposed diving for 2011 (Will be updated as and when more dates/dives comes available).

  • In 2011 a club trip to Sulawesi in Indonesia will take place leaving the cold UK on the 18th of March and will be a two dive centre holiday including the Lembeh Strait as a starter with Twofish Divers.
  • Also for 2011 on the 22 and 23rd of January we will be diving off Weymouth with Skin Deep Diver and staying at their affiliated bunk house Skin DeepBandB.
  • On Saturday the 26th of February we will go to Littlehampton and dive with the boat Our Joy on the wreck HMS Northcoates followed by a drift dive.  Boat is leaving port 08:30 AM.  Contact Ian Grandfield for availability.
  • Plymouth will be our 3rd outing this year arranged by William on the 16/17 April to ScyllaReefdive charter.  Contact William Hutchings for availability as this a popular one
  • In July there will be shorediving in in North Norfolk from Weyborne to Dive from the beach.  Most likely date is Sunday 10th of July.
  •  
  • There is a plan for diving on the 18th of September as day dive from Swanage.  The departure of Mary Jo of Kyarradiving is leaving 13:05 for a wreck dive and 15:05 on the following departure for a drift dive or fleur the lys.  We will need to bring two cylinders.  One need to register with their booking system (http://www.kyarrabookings.co.uk/) to book spaces or contact Ronny on fossberg@ntlworld.com.
  • The weekend 8/9th of October we will dive with Blueturtle diving from Lyme Regis with good interest already.  Contact Sarah or Ronny on sarah.fossberg@ntlworld.com.  This is booked up now (4/8-11)
  • There will be further plans when we get nearer to Xmas.

 

 

  • Greg Kibbler has invited other O2Dive members to join him and Bob RIB diving from Essex/Norfolk/Suffolk.  Starting generally in April and then every other weekend on neap tides space and weather permitting. *Diving will start from His house with loading up and possible other places along the East Anglian riviera.

2010Activities

2010

  • As usual we are gathering every wednesday for training and exercising in the pool at the Ipswich School following with dive chat at the Greyhound Pub just down the road from the school.
  • Started the training of three students with the theory for the open water training in the BSAC training program.  This was finished in the early part of April.
  • In February we had 4 members attending and getting trained to become Snorkeling Instructors over a weekend.
  • March and July had one member each month attending the weekend Instructor Foundation Course (IFC) as basis to work towards becoming instructors.
  • October the 5th our branch had 5 members attending the Open Water Instructor Course (OWIC) so that one can take the practical exam and become a practical Open Water Instructor.
  • October yet one more member taking the IFC in preparation to become an Instructor.
  • In November the club increased the number of instructors with 3 open water instructors and 1 theory instructor.
