when & where we're bubbling

Proposed diving for 2014 (Will be updated as and when more dates/dives comes available).

The year 2014 we look forward to with optimism for getting into the water.

  • The club AGM was held on the 5th Of February in the usual classroom. See under "about us" who is part of the new committee
  • Any suggestion to diving will be welcomed and in preparation for the open sea dives we will make use of the Stoney Cove and Gildenburgh dive centres for water appreciation when the water warms up a little bit.
  • As usual we have been continuing with theory for OW lessons for the Ipswich School students and after completing the pool training have been ongoing on Mondays prior to hopefully finish the qualification over the summer months.
  • On the 11th February Sports Diver theory lessons starts with 4 students.
  • Due to the cancellation of our trip to Plymouth last year this has been rescheduled for 1-3 June with ScyllaReefdive charter.  This a lovely place for diving and hopefully we will be able to get out to one of the deeper reefs a bit offshore the coastline along with some of the more famous wrecks that are in abundance.  Unfortunately this trip is fully booked, but if we get cancellations we will advertise it.
  • With our new open water divers just starting the Sports Diver training we will organise diving off Swanage as a starter with Kyarra diving who are providing a shuttle service to the diving fraternity so that we do not need to book whole boat, but just the numbers we need.  However we need to create our own user with them to log in and look at availability.  Also contact Ronny Fossberg for booking of diving in Swanage as he is already a user and can block book when dates and numbers and dives to be done have been sorted.  It is possible to do it in one day to save on accomodation and food, but it is so much more relaxing if we sort out a weekend.
  • First Swanage trip has not yet been decided.  Last year we stayed at the Auberge Bunkhouse close to the Pier.
  • Every year we have been diving with Blueturtle off Lyme Regis with Rob and we are hoping to sort out a weekend for that as well.
  • Late August we hope to organise a trip again to Breck Farm for camping, a campsite near Weyborne, for some shore diving off the North Norfolk coast diving the wrecks of Vera and Rosalie.  They are lovely shallow and accessible wrecks (after some walking on the gravel beach). We will camp at the part of the campsite where logfires are allowed for BBQ and drinks.
  • Quite a few has showed an interest in a possible to trip to the Dutch islands Bonaire or Curacao in the Caribbean of the coast of Venezuela so we will have a go at sorting out dates and offers from travel agents.  The trip will go ahead to Bonaire with 4 people leaving on the 8th of March.
  • To see a bit of what we did last as small and big groups last year click on the links provided, Scilly,  MexicoLyme Regis and more can be found under Events for 2012.

  • Greg Kibbler has invited other O2Dive members to join him and Bob RIB diving from Essex/Norfolk/Suffolk.  Starting generally in April and then every other weekend on neap tides space and weather permitting. *Diving will start from His house with loading up and possible other places along the East Anglian riviera.

* Proposed dates & locations, contact Greg Kibbler closer to the time. greg@eastessextoolmakers.co.uk
