Summary 2012

The year 2012  saw a reasonable activity with diving starting in late April.  See under Events archive for more details.

  • As usual we have been continuing with theory for OW lessons for the Ipswich School students and after completing that the pool training have been ongoing on Mondays.
  • Had a dive trip to Plymouth on the 27/28 April to ScyllaReefdive charter, which we were looking forward to, but as this seasons weather is not for diving this normally wonderful diving weekend were cancelled due to bad weather.  This trip has been rescheduled for mid June 2013.
  • There were more diving booked, but due to weather condition around the English coast we had cancellation from the dive charters.
  • The weekend17/18th of May we dived with Blueturtle diving from Lyme Regis.  Due to bad weather again saturday the boat diving was blown out, but we did shore diving from Chesil beach.  Sunday we managed to get two OK dives in, but due to the bad weather that had been recently the visibility was at best 3-4m and dark at depths below 20m.
  • In June we had two of the juniors finishing off their open water training in Dahab, Egypt to qualify for the open water certifications.
  • A weekend in July a few of us turned up at a campsite near Weyborne meeting divers from other diveclubs as well.  Our club turned out to be the one with the most participants in the water despite us not being the originator of the meeting.  We all had a lovely time socialicing at the campsite around a logfire after the diving with BBQ and drinks. (Something we look forward to next year)
  •  The week 18th to 25 of august 11 divers and some with family enjoyed a very good diving holiday with spectacular diving in clear water run by Tim Allsop's Divercharter Scillydiving.  He gives us an outstanding service by getting us to the best dive sites no matter the weather and even lays a line on the seabed to make sure we see historic anchors, cannons and cannon balls as an example. • On the 2nd of December Charlie, Karl, Sarah and Ronny flew to Mexico to test out the diving in the freshwater caves/caverns (Cenotes) and the sea along the Riviera Maya south of of Cancun.  Pls look under events of updates of the daily chores of diving!!!!!!! or click here
